Dana Weissberg & Anna Baumann from Zurich, Switzerland: It is our pleasure to announce that our first doctoral students from the University of Zurich moved to Kampala this November. They will be based at the IDI for 6 months in order to do research for their thesis. While Anna is working on the RHINUP study, Dana is doing a retrospective analysis of opportunistic infections within the IDI cohort. Thanks to the great hospitality at IDI the two have had a smooth start.
Furthermore, we would like to share that Allan Buzibye – our laboratory technician trained in pharmacokinetic measurements through the collaboration – has completed his second year of a MSc in Pharmacology at Makerere University. Allan was awarded a CFAR grant by the University of California San Francisco in order to develop and validate a multiplex assay for the measurements of antiretroviral drugs in Uganda. Congratulations Allan, we look forward to your findings!
