Dr. Amrei von Braun is a physician specialized in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, currently based at the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine of University Hospital of Leipzig in Germany. Her main interest lies in improving clinical care for patients in resource-limited settings.
After a number of clinical assignments for different organizations in countries of sub-Saharan Africa, Amrei was in Kampala fulltime from June 2014 until December 2015 as a research fellow and the designated representative of the University of Zurich. In Kampala, Amrei conducted clinical research studies on HIV and tuberculosis at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), cared for in- and out-patients, and engaged in bed-side teaching at Mulago National Referral & Teaching Hospital. She is a co-founder of the R4GH initiative.
