During two days of scientific workshops, researchers from Makerere University and the University of Zurich discussed and presented ongoing and future research projects at this symposium in Zurich. The symposium was not only held to discuss scientific matters, but also to take a step back and reflect on the merits and challenges of North-South health collaborations. To this end, top researchers and high-level representatives from Makerere University, the University of Zurich, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Médecins Sans Frontières, World Health Organization, and other institutions convened for a public program.

The symposium was an important opportunity to showcase joint research projects in human and veterinary medicine, and to strengthen the institutional ties between Makerere University and the University of Zurich.
